Once In A Blue Moon

I live in the Eastern part of the US. Here the Moon will be full on Friday, July 31, 2015 at 6:43 am. This is the second Full Moon this month – many say a Blue Moon. No one seems to know for sure where the term “once in a Blue Moon” originated. Or, why a Blue Moon as opposed to a different description. I’ve just done some quick and dirty research on Google and there are some theories.

From the perspective of astrology all Full Moons are significant. A second Full Moon in one calendar month has no additional significance since it is a function of our calendar system, not anything special the moon is doing.
