Smoked salmon stuffed Curd rice / Thayir sadam

curd-rice-2Curd rice/ Thayir sadam is more often eaten by the south Indians as a part of meal. Rice and yogurt are the 2 main ingredients that go towards making this. It is called as thayir sadam in kerala. Yogurt rice can be made in different ways. I am sharing this with bit of fusion of smoked salmon, capers, gherkins and onion. Cooked rice is mixed with curd and then tempered to make it mildly flavorful.

Prep time – 5 mins
Cook time- 25 mins
Serves – 2 nos


White rice (or basmati rice) – ½ cup
Greek yogurt – 1 to 1½ cup
finely chopped coriander leaves – 1 tsp.
For tempering

curry leaves – 1 sprig

pinch of hing

½ tsp chopped ginger

salt to taste

chana dal – 1 tsp

urad dal – 1 tsp

green chilli – 1 slit
